Berio: Folk Song – Boulez: Dèrive NEW YORK TIMES “Luisa Castellani can hold her own with the best interpreters of the cycle, excepting only Cathy Berberian, for whom the work was conceived. She is occasionally breathy, and her English is not quite certain in the two American numbers that open the set, but she covers the whole range from earthiness to delicacy. She also has the benefit of excellent support from the instrumentalists of the Contempoartensemble under Mauro Ceccanti, two of whom offer solo items by Mr. Berio to complement the songs. Sabrina Giuliani brings grace to the scrubbings of the ‘’Sequenza’’ for viola, and Vittorio Ceccanti plays the short cello piece ‘’Les mots sont alles .” by Paul Griffiths |
